Ben Franklin Bridge Closes Sunday, April 26, 8am - 10am For 2009 March For Babies
The New Jersey Chapter of the March of Dimes is sponsoring the 2009 March for Babies Camden Waterfront Walk . The 4 mile walk will take place on Sunday, April 26, along the Camden Waterfront and across the Ben Franklin Bridge to midspan and back to Camden to raise funds for the March of Dimes’ programs of research, community service, education and advocacy to save babies. Over 900 March for Babies walks are taking place across the country. The Ben Franklin Bridge will be closed to all vehicular traffic on SUNDAY, APRIL 26, FROM 8AM UNTIL 10AM for the walk. In addition to the bridge, a number of local roadways will also be closed. That evening the Ben Franklin Bridge will have purple lighting to mark the event.
DRPA Vice-Chair, Jeff Nash, is Honorary Chair of the walk. Nash, also a Camden County Freeholder, has been instrumental in helping to improve communities, healthcare and education for Camden County residents. As Freeholder, he was responsible for implementing the County’s nationally acclaimed Child Immunization Program. Nash also initiated the Camden County Kids Club Program to provide routine healthcare for working families who are either uninsured or underinsured.
The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation agency. DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross Bridges, and PATCO, the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal and owns the RiverLink Ferry.
