DRPA Police Promote Safe Driving Ahead of Labor Day
The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) Police Department joined PennDOT and other local law enforcement professionals to urge motorists to celebrate responsibly during the Labor Day holiday.
The event was held Thursday, August 14 at the DRPA Administration building at the Walt Whitman Bridge.
DRPA Lt. Sean Longfellow was accompanied by several safety partners, including the Pennsylvania State Police and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
"As connectors of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the DRPA Police Department is committed to keeping motorists throughout our region safe. Getting our commuters from point A to point B safely is our top priority," Lt. Longfellow said.
The united message was clear: motorists are reminded to practice safe and responsible driving for the upcoming Labor Day holiday. Motorists are encouraged to think before getting behind the wheel of their vehicles if they are impaired.
"In a time where ride sharing is extremely accessible, there is no excuse for getting behind the wheel of a motor vehicle while impaired," Lt. Longfellow explained. "The expense of a ride sharing service is minimal and in comparison, to the financial, personal, mental and emotional impacts that driving while impaired can have makes it a worthy investment."
The DRPA Police Department will continue to engage in motor vehicle enforcement of impaired drivers, support community partners and strive to make the roads throughout the region as safe as it can be for our commuters.
