Ben Franklin Bridge Milling & Paving Work to Occur on Weekends

The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) will perform milling and paving work on the Ben Franklin Bridge during weekends from September 9 through November 6. The work will occur on weekends from 7 p.m. Friday through 7 p.m. Sunday, weather depending.

The $6.1 million project repairs deteriorated portions of the pavement and will provide motorists with a smoother driving surface.

What to expect:

  • Bridge Motorists: Construction work zones with lane closures and reduced speed limits. A minimum of two lanes are expected to be open in each direction. Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time and consider an alternate route, such as the Walt Whitman or Betsy Ross Bridge.
  • Bridge Neighbors: Due to the nature of milling and paving construction work, neighbors will experience construction equipment noise and bright work lights. Efforts will be made to minimize these construction impacts.

The Authority currently has $738.9 million in ongoing capital projects to maintain, improve and upgrade our four bridges and PATCO transit line. To learn more, click here.
