The Ben Franklin Bridge goes rainbow for Pride Month

To mark Pride Month, the Ben Franklin Bridge will be illuminated in rainbow colors on several nights throughout the month of June.

The bridge will display rainbow colors on Tuesday, June 15, Thursday,  June 17, and Tuesday, June 22 through Wednesday, June 30.

Pride Month is celebrated annually in June to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questioning (LGBTQ) Americans.

The Benjamin Franklin Bridge is an iconic suspension bridge connecting Philadelphia and Camden, New Jersey. The bridge crosses the Delaware River and offers three modes of transportation- vehicular, rail, and pedestrian. In 2020, nearly 30 million vehicles traveled the span.

The bridge’s lighting program acknowledges national holidays and promotes awareness of important issues, national campaigns, and local accomplishments.

In addition to the rainbow lighting, the bridge will be lit the following colors on the following evenings in June:

  • June 18-20: Red and green for Juneteenth
  • June 21: Red for Sickle Cell Awareness
