WALT WHITMAN BRIDGE TRAVEL ALERT - I-95N ramp to bridge is detoured

3/29/21 UPDATE: REPAIRS COMPLETE. RAMP IS OPEN.

The ramp from I-95 North to the Walt Whitman Bridge is closed due to priority guard rail repairs. All 95N traffic taking Exit 19 for the bridge is detoured to Packer Avenue to access the bridge at Darrien Street. The ramp closure is expected to remain through the weekend. Motorists are advised to check traffic conditions before traveling and allow additional travel time.

Options to access the Walt Whitman Bridge from I-95N:

  • Use Exit 19 & follow the detour down Packer Ave. to the Darrien St. ramp.
  • Use Exit 13 (76W). Take 291E, cross the Platt Bridge & access the Walt Whitman Bridge (I-76E) ramp at Penrose Ave.

Motorists may also consider using the Ben Franklin Bridge as an alternative to New Jersey.
