Ben Franklin Bridge Paving Project to Begin
Project was originally scheduled for fall, but a portion of the work has been moved up to coincide with lighter traffic with less impact to travelers.
Drivers who regularly use the Ben Franklin Bridge should be aware of a paving project that will impact travel in both directions on the bridge.
During the week of Monday, May 18, crews will begin paving lanes on the bridge. The work in this phase will be performed continuously until Thursday night, weather permitting.
As part of the work, two lanes will remain in the peak direction during rush hour. At times, only one lane of travel may be open.
Motorists are reminded to exercise caution and obey posted speed limits when traveling through work zones.
This paving project was originally slated to begin in the fall over the course of several weekends, but a portion of the work was rescheduled to occur continuously now to take advantage of current lower traffic levels due to COVID-19. The rescheduling will have less of an impact to travelers.
