TRAFFIC TO BE BRIEFLY HALTED ON COMMODORE BARRY BRIDGE ON SEPTEMBER 22 FOR VESSEL PASSAGE

Both lanes of travel to be temporarily stopped to allow passage of heavy lift vessel

The Commodore Barry Bridge will have a temporary traffic stoppage in the early morning hours on Sunday, September 22, 2019 to allow the passage of a heavy lift vessel.

The ZHEN HUA 26, a heavy lift vessel transporting a new ship-to-shore (STS) crane bound for Philadelphia, will be traveling beneath the Commodore Barry Bridge at around 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning.

The temporary halt of both eastbound and westbound travel is expected to last approximately 15-20 minutes.

Traffic delays are expected. Drivers are urged to plan accordingly and to use the Walt Whitman Bridge as an alternative.

The closure is being done as a safety precaution and to eliminate driver distraction.

Once the vessel passes, traffic will resume normal operations.
