Ben Franklin Bridge Walkway Hours Extended For Summer

Walkers, runners and cyclists can utilize the Ben Franklin Bridge's pedestrian walkway until 9 p.m. throughout the summer months.

CAMDEN, N.J. - Beginning Sunday, May 1, through Saturday, October 1, the Ben Franklin Bridge Walkway will remain open for one extra hour each evening. Weather permitting, the walkway will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. On October 1, the walkway hours will revert back to 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"With more daylight hours throughout the summer months, we wanted to also give pedestrians and bicyclists the opportunity to use the walkway a little longer each day," explains John T. Hanson, CEO of DRPA. "We know a lot of people appreciate the extended walkway hours as it provides a safe and convenient way to get out and enjoy the warmer weather."

The approximately 1.5 mile pedestrian walkway offers walkers, runners and cyclists a picturesque view of the waterfront and convenient access to popular attractions such as the Adventure Aquarium, the BB&T Center, the Battleship New Jersey, Franklin Square Park and Independence Mall.
