DRPA Adds Additional Session to Special Engineer, Contractor and Professional Services Outreach Event

Due to Overwhelming Demand,  DRPA Office of Business Development and Equal Opportunity expands event to include an Afternoon Session

CAMDEN, N.J. (October 26, 2015): Due to overwhelming response, the Delaware River Port Authority’s (DRPA) Office of Business Development & Equal Opportunity (OBD&EO), in collaboration with the DRPA’s Engineering Department, has added an additional, afternoon session to its November 12th, special outreach event for engineering firms, contractors and companies that provide professional services. The afternoon session will run from 1:00pm to 4:30pm and will provide an opportunity for participating firms to learn more about accessing contracting opportunities at the DRPA.

“The response and desire to attend this event have exceeded all expectations,” said DRPA CAO Toni P. Brown. “Clearly, the message is reaching vendors across the region that the DRPA is serious about its diversity and inclusion efforts, as demonstrated by our Board’s expanded commitment to these efforts under Chairman Ryan Boyer and Vice Chair Jeff Nash. We are thrilled that the desire to participate has been so great that it has required us to duplicate the morning session during the afternoon.”

The original event, scheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2015, from 8:30 a.m. to Noon, is now completely full. Those who wish to register for the new afternoon session (1:00pm – 4:30pm) are encouraged to do so immediately, as space is rapidly filling up.

At the special November 12, 2015 outreach events, the Authority will provide an overview of the 2016 Capital Budget, including upcoming projects, the bid, Statement of Qualifications and Request for Proposal process, and information on the Authority’s MBE/WBE participation goals and compliance efforts.

Following the event presentations, there will be an  opportunity for attendees to network with each other and DRPA staff from the Engineering Department, Office of Business Development & Equal Opportunity and Contract Administration in break-out groups.

Six (6) professional engineering firms and two (2) general contractors that currently do business with the DRPA on large capital projects are confirmed to attend. These companies include:

•        AECOM Technical Services, Inc.
•        A.P. Construction, Inc.
•        Corcon
•        HNTB Corporation
•        Pennoni Associates
•        Remington & Vernick Engineers
•        STV, Inc.
•        Urban Engineers, Inc.

The networking session will enable attendees to meet each other and discuss their respective services and expertise.

Experienced staff in the Office of Business Development & Equal Opportunity, the Engineering Department and the Contract Administration Department will be available at this special event to meet and greet the attendees and provide answers to any questions the attendees may have about our capital projects and how to do business with our agency.

The program will take place at DRPA’s Headquarters at One Port Center, 2 Riverside Drive, Camden, NJ, 08101, in the 11th Floor Board Room.

All interested companies must pre-register for the event by Wednesday, November 4th by completing the event registration form found at http://www.drpa.org/obdeo/obdeo_calendar.asp. Limited space is available and vendor responses thus far have been extremely positive so the event is expected to reach capacity quickly.  Companies that wish to participate are strongly encouraged to pre-register immediately.
