Ben Franklin Bridge May Lighting

Delaware River Port Authority CEO, John J. Matheussen, has announced the Ben Franklin Bridge in May will have special lighting to support the March of Dimes “March for Babies”, a reunion of the Rutgers Camden Alumni, and to celebrate Mother’s Day and Memorial Day. 

On May 1st the bridge will have purple lighting for the March of Dimes “Walk for Babies” which will take place on theBen Franklin Bridge walkway.  Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services,education and advocacy to save babies and in 2003 launched a campaign to address the increasing rate of prematurebirth. On May 8th, Mothers Day, the bridge will have magenta lighting.

On May 14th the bridge will have red lighting for the Rutgers Camden Alumni weekend.  This year’s event is called “Reunion on the River” and, as its organizers say, “what happens on the river stays on the river.” For further information visit www.alumni.rutgers.edu.

From May 28th to the 30th, Memorial Day weekend, the bridge will have its patriotic red, white and blue lighting. 

The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation agency.  DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross Bridges and PATCO.  The DRPA also owns the RiverLinkFerry.
