Ben Franklin Bridge October Bridge Lighting

Delaware River Port Authority CEO, John J. Matheussen, has announced the Ben Franklin Bridge in October will have special lighting to promote Breast Cancer Awareness, Domestic Violence Awareness, Leukemia and Lymphoma awareness, mark a special police observance, and to celebrate Columbus Day and Halloween. 

On October 1-8, 10, 12-22 and 25-26 the bridge will have magenta lighting in support of the LIGHTS FOR THE CURE campaign which lights the Philadelphia skyline to raise awareness about breast cancer. This local campaign is sponsored by CBS 3 (KYW-TV), and the Philadelphia affiliate of the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. 

On October 9 to observe the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Light the Night Walk the bridge will have red lighting. 

On Columbus Day, October 11, the bridge will have the traditional patriotic lighting of red, white and blue. 

On October 23-24 the bridge will feature red lighting to mark “Red Ribbon Week”. The Federal Drug Enforcement Administration commemorates this time every year to remember the murder of Special Agent Enrique (Kiki) S. Camarena who was killed in the line of duty. 

The Bridge will have purple lighting October 27-30 to support Domestic Violence Awareness.

On the last day of the Month, October 31, the bridge will have orange lighting to mark the celebration of Halloween. 

The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation agency. DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross Bridges, PATCO and the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal. The DRPA also owns the RiverLink Ferry.
