The RiverLink Ferry Opens for the 2010 Season with Kids Ride Free Promotion
Spring is in the air. That can only mean one thing. It must be the start of the RiverLink Ferry season. Take a fun-filled ride on the RiverLink Ferry this Saturday, May 1, as it kicks-off its 2010 season with a “Kids Ride Free” promotion. From 12 noon until 6 p.m., children ages 12 years old and younger ride free with each paid adult ticket purchase.
The fun begins at 1 p.m. with mascots from the Camden Riversharks Baseball Team and the Camden Children’s Garden, Sea Cadets from the Battleship New Jersey and representatives from the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, Adventure Aquarium, Hyatt Regency at Penn’s Landing and Independence Seaport Museum. And for a tasty treat, Campbell’s Soup will be providing Goldfish crackers to children who board the ferry.
“The RiverLink Ferry has become a very popular attraction for many people and an integral part of the summer waterfront experience. We look forward to another great season” said John J. Matheussen, Chief Executive Officer of DRPA and President of PATCO.
The ferry’s first departure from Camden is at 9:30 a.m. and Philadelphia at 10 a.m. The ferry departs from Camden every hour on the half hour and from Philadelphia every hour on the hour. The last ferry of the day will leave Camden at 6:30 p.m. and Penn’s Landing at 7 p.m. The ferry is located adjacent to the Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia and adjacent to Wiggins Park Marina in Camden.
There is plenty to do on both sides of the river. Stop by the Adventure Aquarium to explore the deep sea, dive into maritime history at the Battleship New Jersey Memorial Museum or the Independence Seaport Museum, catch a fly ball at a Camden Riversharks game or sing along with your favorite band at the Susquehanna Bank Center and Penn’s Landing.
The 2010 ferry season runs Saturdays and Sundays only until Memorial Day. From Memorial Day through Labor Day the ferry will operate every day, rain or shine. From Labor Day through the end of September the ferry schedule is back to weekends only, closing for the season on September 30. The ferry offers express concert service for every Susquehanna Bank Center concert throughout the season. Express service concludes approximately one-half hour after the end of the concert or until all riders have reached their destination.
