Walt Whitman Bridge Contractor Meetings Held May 5 & 7 & June 2
In August, 2007 the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) began preliminary and final engineering design for the replacement of the original roadway deck on the main suspended spans of the Walt Whitman Bridge. The DRPA is nearing completion of final design, at which point contractors will be invited to submit competitive bids for re-decking construction.
In anticipation of entering the bid phase of this important project, the DRPA held information briefings with contractor associations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. These briefings provided the contracting community with an overview of the project and to inform potential bidders of the anticipated bid and construction schedule. The goal of these briefings is to encourage interest in the project and afford the opportunity of bidding this work to the greatest number of contractors in the region.
The first briefing was with the Utility and Transportation Contractor’s Association of New Jersey (UTCANJ) on May 5th at 10:00 am. The briefing was held on the 2nd floor of the Raritan Center Plaza II, 91 Fieldcrest Avenue, Edison, NJ 08837
The second briefing was with the Contractor’s Association of Eastern Pennsylvania (CAEP) on May 7th at 10:00 am. The briefing location was at CAEP offices, 1500 Walnut Street, Suite 1105, Philadelphia, PA 19102.
The third briefing was held June 2nd at 10:30 am in the 11th Floor Board Room at DRPA Headquarters, One Port Center, 2 Riverside Drive, Camden, NJ.
For questions regarding these briefings please contact Vijay R. Pandya, P.E., DRPA Senior Engineer, at 856-968-2077.
