Ben Franklin Bridge Roots For The Villanova Wildcats

Delaware River Port Authority CEO, John J. Matheussen, has announced special blue and white lighting on the Ben Franklin Bridge in honor of the Villanova Wildcats basketball team competing in the final four of the NCAA tournament.

The special lighting will begin on Saturday, April 4, when the Wildcats take on a tough North Carolina team in the NCAA semi-finals.  The championship game takes place on Monday, April 6, when the winner of the Villanova-North Carolina game takes on the winner of the UConn-Michigan State game.

Villanova earned its way into the Final Four with an exciting 78-76 victory over Pitt.  The game had 15 lead changes and 10 ties before Scottie Reynolds gave the Wildcats the lead with only half a second left on the game clock.

According to Matheussen, “We want to highlight the tremendous regional pride in this talented and dedicated Villanova team of players and coaches.  Lighting the Ben Franklin Bridge Villanova blue and white is our collective way to wish them well.”

The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation agency.  DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross Bridges, PATCO and the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal.  The DRPA also owns the RiverLink Ferry.
