DRPA Hosts Workshop for National Association of Minority Contractors

The Delaware River Port Authority today joined the Philadelphia and New Jersey Chapters of the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) to conduct a “How to Do Business with the DRPA/PATCO” workshop and networking session for NAMC members. The event was held at DRPA’s Headquarters building, One Port Center, located in Camden, NJ.

DRPA staff members representing the Office of Business and Equal Opportunity, Information Services, Engineering, Purchasing and Contract Administration educated NAMC members on the various functions of each department and explained how to do business with DRPA. In addition, representatives from the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition provided an overview of its Business Builder Loan program. The workshop concluded with a networking session.

“This workshop gives DRPA/PATCO the opportunity to introduce itself to the NAMC community and inform them of upcoming opportunities at DRPA/PATCO,” said DRPA Deputy Chief of Business Development and Equal Opportunity Toni Proffitt Brown.

“By hosting one of the largest minority contracting organizations in the nation, DRPA strengthens not only its commitment to business development but also its commitment to vendor diversity,” said DRPA Chief Executive Officer John J. Matheussen.

DRPA’s Office of Business Development and Equal Opportunity offers a number of support services to businesses looking to work with DRPA and PATCO such as a quarterly newsletter, web-based MBE/WBE directory, in-kind training sessions and instant e-notification of projects, bids and meetings. On August 13, the Office of Business Development and Equal Opportunity will hold a Minority and Women-owned Business Vendor Expo at the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal.
