DRPA Joins Online Auction Site
Looking for equipment, machinery or office supplies? Look no further than your computer. The Delaware River Port Authority and GovDeals, a nationwide online auction site, have teamed up to bring the DRPA auction right to your home or office.
GovDeals is an internet based government auction site that provides government agencies with a platform to sell surplus and confiscated items to the public via the internet. By joining GovDeals, DRPA can post online public items for sale such as industrial supplies, vehicles, equipment and machinery.
“The old days of hiring a firm to hold an auction are over, by using the internet we are able to reduce our cost and efficiently dispose of surplus equipment and supplies,” says DRPA Chief Executive Officer John J. Matheussen.
There are no fees required for contracting with GovDeals, which receives 7.5 percent for each item sold. Customers can access GovDeals by visiting DRPA’s website at www.drpa.org or by reaching the site directly at www.govdeals.com.
The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation agency. DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross bridges, PATCO, the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal and RiverLink Ferry.
