Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Fare Increase
The new toll/fare schedule for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey took effect, Sunday, March 2, 2008. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey owns and operates the George Washington Bridge, and the three Staten Island Bridges - the Bayonne, Goethals and Outerbridge Crossing. They also own and operate the Port Authority Trans-Hudson Corporation (PATH) which is a heavy rail transit system between New York City and New Jersey. The new rates are as follows:
Tolls for passenger vehicles
•The cash toll is $8 for passenger vehicles.
•The toll for passenger vehicles using E-ZPass is $6 for off-peak travel and $8 in peak hours.
•Qualified low-emission vehicles are eligible to receive a Port Authority Green Pass discount of $4 during off-peak hours.
Tolls for trucks and buses
•The cash tolls for trucks are $8 per axle at all times
•The toll for trucks using E-ZPass is $7 per axle for off-peak travel, and $8 per axle in peak hours.
•The E-ZPass weekday overnight toll for trucks is $5.50 per axle.
•The cash toll for buses is $ 6. The E-ZPass toll for buses is $4.00
PATH Fare
•The new one-way cash fare is $1.75 per trip. The 10-trip SmartLink Card or QuickCard is $13; the 20- trip SmartLink Card or QuickCard is $26, and the 40-trip SmartLink Card or QuickCard is $52.
•1- Day Unlimited Pass is $6, a 7-Day Unlimited Pass at a cost of $18, and a 30-Day Unlimited Pass at a cost of $54.
