Passenger Notice - PATCO Phasing Out The Old Magnetic Tickets
PATCO is working with our vendor, Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc. to transition out of the Pilot Phase, in place since August 2006, to full implementation of the new smart card Automated Fare Collection System. Significant progress has been made and we are anticipating the initial phase of the roll-out before the end of the year. One of the first steps in this process involves phasing out the old magnetic tickets that most of our passengers are presently using. What you can do to help us with this process: 1) Use up all old fare media (magnetic tickets). The old media is an outdated technology. The transferring of any remaining value on the old media to the new media is a laborious time-consuming process. PATCO strongly recommends that you do all you can to expend the old media. 2) Effective with the date of this notice, all new purchase of the old fare media should be limited to one (1) week's worth of travel. For example, purchase one (1), ten-ride ticket or five (5), two-ride tickets for one week of travel. Do not buy two, three and four weeks or more of tickets at one time. PATCO thanks you for your cooperation and patience as we transition to a completely new automated fare collection system. Please look for station-by-station transition updates that will soon be posted in each station and on the website at www.ridepatco.org. We will continue to communicate with you throughout the transition process so you can plan accordingly. John J. Matheussen President, PATCO Robert A. Box, P.E. General Manager, PATCO[ Return to List ]
