Ben Franklin Bridge Gets Into the Holiday Spirit
Area residents aren't the only ones getting into the holiday spirit. As the holiday season moves into high gear, the Benjamin Franklin Bridge will show its spirit by lighting up every evening from December 16 through January 1, 2007. Beginning, Saturday, December 16 and continuing through December 22, the bridge will be lit blue and white for Hanukkah. From December 23 through December 30, the bridge will be lit red and white for Christmas and from December 31 through January 1, 2007, the bridge will be lit in a rainbow display for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. DRPA began its decorative lighting display on the Benjamin Franklin Bridge in 1987. Since then, the bridge has been illuminated nightly and for various holidays, commemorative and sporting events. The Benjamin Franklin Bridge is DRPA's only bridge that has a decorative lighting display. The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation and development agency. DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross bridges, and the PATCO High Speed Line, the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal at Pier 1 and the RiverLink Ferry.[ Return to List ]
