DRPA/PATCO Police Officer Of The Year
The Delaware River Port Authority/Port Authority Transit Corporation today announced its Police Officer of the Year - Cpl. Joseph B. Douglass. Cpl. Douglass, a sixteen year veteran of the Public Safety Department, is assigned to the Transit Unit. As a member of the Transit Unit, Cpl. Douglass has been instrumental in assisting fellow officers in transitioning from the bridge facilities to the Transit Unit. Through his leadership, the Transit Unit's Field Training Officer Program has been revised, a PowerPoint presentation and supplemental guide entitled, “Transit Unit Officer's Handbook,” has been compiled and an 80 hour course outline has been developed to familiarize officers with the responsibilities of the Transit Unit. In addition, Cpl. Douglass was recognized for his consistent display of professionalism and willingness to assist fellow officers as well as the public. During his career, he has been the recipient of three Merit awards, three unit citations, 22 Honorable Service Letters of Commendation and Appreciation and six Commendation Performance Notices. The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation and development agency. DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross bridges, and the PATCO High Speed Line, the AmeriPort Intermodal Rail Center, the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal at Pier 1 and the RiverLink Ferry.[ Return to List ]
